Description (Service) Promotes and protects access to information rights under the Access to Information Act. 
 
* Investigates complaints about federal institutions’ handling of access requests 
* Monitors federal institutions’ performances under the Act and represents represent the Commissioner in court cases and provides legal advice on investigations and legislative matters

Application To make a formal request under the Access to Information Act, send a letter or a completed Form to the address of the government institution listed in Info Source (a directory where you can find information on federal government agencies). 
 
To lodge a formal complaint under the Access to Information Act, write to the address listed * complaints by email or phone are not accepted.
